SOCIAL MEDIA AS A HELPFUL TOOL IN CASE OF EMERGENCY

Social media, television and radio formats provide very different opportunities for us to get
informations. Any media and communication device used before the development of digital media is referred to as traditional media. Newspapers, radio, periodicals, and television are included with this. On the other hand, social media refers to programs and websites which let users engage in social networking and produce and share
content. Social media refers to the means of interactions among people in which they create, share and/or exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks.

Social media is vital in communicating with individuals around the world. It enabled governments, social workers, and families in sorting out information during disasters. Every family can easily contact with their relatives through social media, especially those who live abroad during disasters. Social workers can use this as a tool to alert the public during disasters. Social media can be used to transmit information by our government. It’s very obvious that social media helps us with any forms either communicating around the world or spreading informations. The social networking media can help enhance coordination among volunteers and emergency services. The content sharing media can help in conducting situational awareness by identifying images or videos of how a crisis is evolving in real time. The collaborative knowledge sharing media can help develop dialogues between different stakeholders in a risk or crisis management situation.

Social media is a resource of the current age that may be quite advantageous if used appropriately. Due to people trying to contact relatives and friends in the disaster area and looking for information on food, shelter, and transportation, there is an increase in communication as a result of natural disasters. By enabling individuals to share information and request assistance, social media has significantly contributed to the spread of knowledge about these disasters. In the aftermath of disasters, when infrastructure needs to be rebuilt and stress treatment is crucial, social media is also becoming extremely relevant. Social media can be used to supplement existing systems, but it cannot and should not replace existing approaches to disaster management communication or infrastructure.

PROJECT PROTECT: ENVIRONMENT

PROTECT PROJECT: THE ENVIRONMENT Written by Maffi Arcaina (10 Martinelli)   WAYS TO PROTECT AND CARE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT BY ENGAGING THE COMMUNITY IN LEADING AN ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS LIFESTYLE:   1. Don’t buy single-use plastic If getting a new pot for your garden do not buy plastic, instead reuse the plastic bottle and make it a colorful pot. Having this habit can reduce plastic bottles around that can make your environment messy or polluted.   Over a hundred bottles are ending up in oceans and landfill if bottles are being thrown up just somewhere. If this habit continues, the environment will be ruined just in case.              It is important to the environment that we recycle so that we can keep the plastic bottles out of our landfills. Plastic does not simply go away, but will sit in a landfill for long periods of time if not properly handled. This can cause a lot of problems.   Rec...
